Im März und Mai, werde ich im Kunstpark einen besonderen Kurs anbieten: Menschen skitzzieren. Einfach die Leute um uns herum zu zeichnen. Als Ergänzung zum "Urban sketching". Menschen sind das Leben in einer urbanen Umgebung.

In March and May I will be offering new human sketching workshops in Kunstpark, Herne. This are meant to improve our people observation skills as a complement to urban sketching. People are the life in urban environments.

Pastell urban sketches / Pastelskitzzen

Lately I have been working on pastel sketching. This year, I will be offering several workshops in this medium.
Winter offers magic atmospheres. People look for warmth, even if it is only a feeling coming from lights and fireplaces or just by getting together with other people.

Not all my sketches were done "in situ". Here is one out of fantasy after viewing dozens of Northern light photos. We never got to see the aurora borealis in Alaska. It was a summer vacation.

Esta, mi primera pieza de arte luminico, me transporta a Caracas, aunque este lejos. Es la vista desde las colinas del sureste hacia el Avila. Estoy trabajando en una edicion limitada en dos versiones. Una con placa de acero cepillado (gris mate claro) sobre una base blanca. La otra, con placa de cobre. Asi se puede armonizar con ambientes mas frios o mas calidos. Iluminacion LED incluida. Tamano: 33 x 105 cm. Precio 100 Euros + costos de envio (Alemania +7, Union Europea +15).

For a long time I have not seen anyone using pastell and want to explore its potential for urban sketches.

The river Rhine is at historic record low and people literally walk on its bottom. Navigation hast been hurt and might have to be halted enterely if it does not start raining soon. Meanwhile, we have enjoyed an extraordinarily sunny and warm summer and autumn.

It was a pleasure meeting the local group.

Leute in der Bahn / Pasajeros en el tren / Train passengers

Die Bahnreise nach Dortmund dauert etwa 45 minuten, genuegend fur 3-4 dieser Skitzzen. Die meissten Passagiere beschaeftigen sich mit dem Handy, Musik und seltener mit einem Buch.

El tren a Dortmund toma alrededor de 45 minutos, tiempo suficiente para dibujar 3-4 de estos esbozos. La mayoria de los pasajeros se entretienen con el celular, escuchar musica y en raras ocasiones, con un libro.

The train takes about 45 minutes from Essen to Dortmund, enough to draw 3-4 of these sketches. Most passengers entertain themselves with cell phones, listening to music, seldom with a book.

Sometimes all things fall into place. Coincidences that make your heart very happy! Yesterday the Dortmund Urban Sketchers decided to meet at the local Opera house. Surprise! At the moment we approached the building, a big sign invited people to join the "Aida" rehearsal, preceded by an interview with performers at the foyer. It was a great opportunity to sketch people there, sitting and standing everywhere.

No available chairs? A couple of tables will have to do.

Es war nett mit dem Dortmunder Urban Sketchers. Polizeieinsatz wegen einer Demonstration der Rechten mit Anwesenheit der Linken. Nicht viel los, wenige Menschen. Gutaussehende Polizisten.

Nice session with the Dortmund Urban Sketchers yesterday. Police present due to an extreme right protest with presence of left activists. No big deal, few people, hansome police officers. This group of youngsters asked me to sketch them.

Agradable jornada con los dibujantes urbanos de Dortmund ayer. Despliege policial por una protesta de la extrema derecha con presencia de gente de la izquierda. Nada importante, muy poca gente. Policias muy guapos. En el camino de retorno, fue la primera vez que use acuarela en el tren. Solia colorear mis dibujos en casa.
