The Blücher tower (Blücherturm)
This structure that looks like many medieval houses, is the Blücher tower, which served several purposes during half a millenium. It is located in Rellinghausen, now part of the city of Essen in Germany.
At the end of the 16th century it was the stage for witch processes. From 1570 to 1595, a total of 39 women and men were convicted and executed here. Now it looks so pleasant, you can hardly believe its dark and scary past. We plan an urban sketchers gathering around it.
UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein
This former coal industry installation now hosts the Ruhr Museum and is the most iconic landmark in Essen, Germany. I have sketched it on several occasions.
