Tropical transparencies

 During my almost three week stay at the rehabilitation clinic in Bad Sassendorf, after my hip surgery, I dedicated leisure time mostly  to portrait sketching and painting.  

Urban sketching in North Rhine Westphalia

 

There are half a dozen of Urban Sketchers groups in the Ruhr-Rhein area of North Rhine Westphalia.  This gives us a great variety and amount of activities to choose from.  

Urban Sketching is a no-cost activity for the participants, other than their own transportation and materials.  It is fun and provides opportunities to tour the area accompanied by people with the same interest.  Urban sketching is a great source of pleasure, exploration, motivation, practice, and sense of accomplishment.  Anyone can join us, from beginners to advanced and professional artists.   

Urban Sketchers Bochum meeting at the Katzentempel.

The Katzentempel (cat's temple) is a restaurant-café close to Bochum's main train station.  It features half a dozen cats to accompany you. Some come to you in search of caress.  In spite of their beauty, I preferred sketching my fellow artists on site.
